We want to challenge you with this thought. When it comes to your children, they will love Jesus to the degree that you love Jesus.
So let this be your verse:
1 Corinthians 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
What a honorable goal to go after. Parents! put this on your mirror so you see it when you wake up in the morning.
As parents its important to be like Jesus in every situation. Now I don’t want you to think that lives been perfect in our house. We’ve had moments that it was so difficult and so trying. It was very hard. But by the grace of God we are on the other side of moments. And it really happened because we made the decision that when “all hell breaks loose,” that would be the time to really show them what God is like.
And you’ll have those times. You will. And when you go to deal with the situation, you have an incredible opportunity to display the love of the Father to them. And it may just be one of the most impactful moments of their lives. Go up to them and say, “I think I love you more than I did before. Because I’ve realized that if you’ve ever needed a father, you need it right now. And there is nothing you can do to disappoint me and I want you to know that I could not love you more than I do right now. And I will walk through this with you and its going to be alright.” The Bible tells me that I need to forgive people to the same degree that I need forgiveness. So make up your mind that you’re going to treat your kids like Jesus treats you. Full of grace and truth. And thats your opportunity today.
