Have you ever heard anyone say, “If you want to be a millionaire, find a millionaire and learn to do what he does?” The same holds true if you want to have a healthy marriage. If you want to have a healthy marriage, find someone who has a healthy marriage and learn to do what they do. Well, we can see the perfect example of a marriage in the Bible in Ephesians 5:31-32 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”
Nothing else is appropriate to be emulated, nothing else is efficient as “Christ and the church.” No human couple can compare. Don’t take anyone you know or have heard about to measure yourself against. Strive to be like Christ and the church. Emulating people, no matter how good they are, will only produce their faults.
Every marriage challenge or question can be answered in the relationship example of Christ and the church. This is the perfect marriage, Christ and the church. What if the husband in every marriage, treated his wife like Christ treated the church? What if every wife in every circumstance, always treated her husband like the church is supposed to treat the Lord?
